Chemical oxidation can be used in land remediation or water treatment. When used in land remediation it is called ISCO (in-situ chemical oxidation). There is a strong oxidizing agent, such as a combination of ozone gas and the liquid peroxide, injected into the ground. As a result, the contaminant is chemically decomposed by oxidation. The pollution is converted into harmless compounds. To add ozone and peroxide effectively to soil or water, it must be diffused. However, there are few diffusion materials that can withstand the oxidation, therefore Oxydent developed an ozone and peroxide-resistant diffuser made of PTFE and stainless steel.
