To keep an aerator floating or at the bottom one will have to calculate the buoyancy. This is done by calculating the volume of the aerator and subtracting its own weight. Because the specific mass of water is +/- 1 kg, it is easy to calculate. Because the airflow that goes through the aerator causes uplift, extra weight is needed. The Oxydent aerators have (balance-) weights so that they stay floating vertically or remain at the bottom.
